LOS ANGELES – Congresswoman Luz Rivas (CA-29) sent a letter to U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) Acting Director Todd Lyons demanding answers about ICE’s decision-making process behind sending immigrants to different parts of the country, its actions to arrest immigrants at their court hearings, and the associated costs to the taxpayer.

ADELANTO, CA – Today, Rep. Luz Rivas (CA-29), Rep. Judy Chu (CA-28), Rep. Linda Sánchez (CA-38), Rep. Mark Takano (CA-39), and Rep. Sydney Kamlager-Dove (CA-37) were granted entry to the Adelanto ICE Processing Center in order to conduct oversight guaranteed by federal law. The lawmakers demanded answers following reports of unlawful immigration raids, due process violations, and alarming allegations that U.S. citizens may have been wrongfully detained.

LOS ANGELES – Congresswoman Luz Rivas (CA-29) – co-chair of the bipartisan STEM Education Caucus and the only Latina in Congress with a STEM background – introduced the STEM Pathways for the Future Act, her first bill as a Member of Congress. Congresswoman Rivas’ bill will help rebuild the STEM workforce by fostering educational and apprenticeship opportunities for students who come from diverse and untraditional pathways.

LOS ANGELES — Congresswoman Luz Rivas (CA-29) led 35 of her colleagues and California Senators Alex Padilla and Adam Schiff in urging Department of Homeland Security Secretary Kristi Noem to reconsider the termination of the legal status of S.G.V. and her family. S.G.V. is a four-year-old girl from Bakersfield living with short bowel syndrome who is facing deportation and could die if she loses medical care at Children’s Hospital Los Angeles. S.G.V.
