Meet Luz

Congresswoman Luz Rivas is an engineer, educator, and public servant who was elected to the House of Representatives in 2025 to represent California’s 29th Congressional District – the first Latina to represent the district and the only Latina in Congress with a STEM background. 

For the 119th Congress, Rep. Rivas was elected by her peers to serve in House Democratic Leadership as the Freshman Leadership Representative. In this role, she ensures each freshman member’s voice is heard and represented in the House Democrats’ agenda, and participates in Democratic Leadership meetings. Additionally, Rep. Rivas is a member of the Congressional Hispanic Caucus, Congressional Progressive Caucus, and the Democratic Women’s Caucus. 

Prior to her election to the House of Representatives, Rep. Rivas served in the California State Assembly and is formerly the Founder of DIY Girls, a non-profit organization dedicated to helping girls become interested in technology and engineering through educational experiences and mentorship.

These funds will support computer lab renovations, technology upgrades, and outdoor space improvements at Parthenia Place in North Hills.

The event focused on listening to stories from community members who have been impacted by the Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) raids that have terrorized the San Fernando Valley.
