LOS ANGELES — Congresswoman Luz Rivas (CA-29) – co-chair of the STEM Education Caucus and the only Latina in Congress with a background in science, technology, engineering, and mathematics (STEM) – presented over $1,000,000 in federal funding to California State University, Northridge (CSUN). These funds will support the purchase of computers, latest technology, and research equipment for the Autodesk Technology Engagement Center.

WASHINGTON, D.C. – Congresswoman Luz Rivas (CA-29) introduced the Healing and Equity for Enforcement-Affected Residents and Trauma (HEART) Act of 2026. The HEART Act will create the Office of Immigrant Community Mental Health and Resilience within the Department of Health and Human Services. The Office’s purpose will be to provide mental health services to communities that are impacted by federal law enforcement immigration actions.

The event focused on listening to stories from community members who have been impacted by the Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) raids that have terrorized the San Fernando Valley.
