Congresswoman Luz Rivas Secures $850,000 in Federal Funding for Key Pacoima Wash Infrastructure and Safety Improvements

LOS ANGELES — Congresswoman Luz Rivas (CA-29), representative for California’s 29th Congressional District, presented the City of Los Angeles with $850,000 in federal funding for the Pacoima Wash Bridge Mitigation Project. This funding will help improve the safety and security of six critical bridges that cross the Pacoima Wash.

“I am proud to secure $850,000 in federal funding to make key safety improvements to six bridges that cross the Pacoima Wash,” said Congresswoman Rivas. “For decades, people have crossed the Pacoima Wash to get to work, go to school, and run errands. The funding I secured will make the necessary repairs and upgrades to reduce fire and safety hazards so people can continue safely crossing the Pacoima Wash for years to come. I will continue working with Councilwoman Imelda Padilla and our community partners to secure federal funding and resources that keep San Fernando Valley residents safe.”

Background:

Congresswoman Rivas secured $850,000 in Fiscal Year 2026 Community Project Funding to improve the safety and security of six bridges that cross the Pacoima Wash. The project includes the installation of anchored steel plate enclosures, repairs to steel girders, and upgraded fencing to improve public safety and reduce fire and health hazards.

This funding is part of the nearly $15 million in federal funding Congresswoman Rivas secured for California's 29th Congressional District in Fiscal Year 2026.
