Congresswoman Luz Rivas Sworn in the 119th Congress as Representative for California’s 29th Congressional District

WASHINGTON, D.C. – Congresswoman Luz Rivas (CA-29) was sworn in as the newest Representative and first-ever Latina to represent California’s 29th Congressional District, home to over 750,000 people in the San Fernando Valley. 

“Today, I proudly took my oath to represent the community that gave my mother, my sister, and me the chance to live our American Dream,” said Congresswoman Rivas. “I would not be here if it were not for my constituents for entrusting me – a proud lifelong daughter of the San Fernando Valley – with the responsibility to fight for them and their hopes in Washington, D.C. Just as I did in the California State Assembly, I will work with my House Democratic Caucus colleagues to uplift working families, protect critical social safety net programs from being cut, and tackle the threat of climate change so future generations can thrive.”
