Congresswoman Luz Rivas’ Statement on Resolution of Disapproval for Congressman Jesús “Chuy” Garcia

WASHINGTON, D.C. — Congresswoman Luz Rivas (CA-29) released the following statement on the resolution of disapproval for Congressman Jesús “Chuy” Garcia (IL-04):

“I am grateful for Congressman Chuy Garcia’s decades of service to improving the lives of working families, immigrants, and our most vulnerable in Chicago and across the country. Congressman Garcia’s decision not run for re-election is a deeply personal decision that only he could make for himself and his family. I stand by Congressman Garcia’s decision to focus on his health, care for his wife’s worsening health condition, and be there for his newly adopted grandson after the tragic loss of his daughter.

“I do not support the resolution – which arose from a lone-wolf act – directed at Congressman Garcia. It does not reflect my priorities in Congress to lower the cost of living, defend immigrants, and protect healthcare for all.”
