Congresswoman Luz Rivas Secures $660,000 in Federal Funding for Shade, Public Transportation Upgrades at Metro Bus Stops

LOS ANGELES – Congresswoman Luz Rivas (CA-29) presented the Los Angeles County Metropolitan Transportation Authority (Metro) with $660,000 in federal funding for vital infrastructure upgrades to bus shelters and bus stops across the San Fernando Valley.

“The federal funding I secured will make traveling around the Valley a stronger, safer, and more reliable option for riders,” said Congresswoman Rivas. “Thousands of riders across the Valley rely on Metro buses to go to school, commute to work, run errands, and go to the doctor. This federal investment will increase public transportation uses, add shade to make bus stops and stations safer for riders, and strengthen accessibility to economic opportunities. I am proud to bring this federal investment to the San Fernando Valley and will continue fighting for key transportation infrastructure upgrades that will connect our communities and improve opportunities for working families.”

Congresswoman Rivas secured $660,000 in federal funding in Fiscal Year 2026 Community Project Funding for California’s 29th Congressional District. For Fiscal Year 2026, Metro received $2.6 million in federal funding to make upgrades throughout the Los Angeles area. This funding will help Metro support cities in purchasing vital infrastructure upgrades to bus shelters and bus stops which will increase public transportation usage, safety and accessibility to economic opportunities.

This funding is part of the nearly $15 million in federal funding Congresswoman Rivas secured for California's 29th Congressional District in Fiscal Year 2026.
