Congresswoman Luz Rivas Joins Influential House Energy and Environment Coalition

May 15, 2026

WASHINGTON, D.C. — Congresswoman Luz Rivas (CA-29), member of the House Committee on Natural Resources, announced today that she is now a member of the House Sustainable Energy and Environment Coalition (SEEC). SEEC is a House caucus that promotes environmental justice, champions clean energy innovation and job creation, and advances policies that will address global climate change.

“Clean energy and the health of environmental justice communities, like mine in the San Fernando Valley, are under attack by the Trump Administration,” said Congresswoman Rivas. “In this critical moment, it is imperative to champion bold solutions that not only preserves our environment, but ensures future generations have a livable planet with clean air, safe drinking water, and protected public lands. I am excited to join SEEC and work with Co-Chairs Doris Matsui (CA-7), Mike Quigley (IL-5), and Paul Tonko (NY-20) – and a broad coalition of over 100 of our Democratic colleagues – to address climate change, protect our environment, and fight for environmental justice communities.”

“On behalf of the House Sustainable Energy and Environment Coalition (SEEC), we are so pleased to welcome our newest member, Congresswoman Luz Rivas, who has demonstrated how to hit the ground running as an environmental champion in Congress,” said SEEC Co-Chairs Reps. Doris Matsui, Mike Quigley, and Paul Tonko. “In her first Congress, Congresswoman Rivas has already fought for our environmental justice communities, preservation of our public lands and wildlife, and clean air and clean water for the American people. Our now 109-member strong caucus is excited to have this fierce climate warrior amongst us in this all-hands-on-deck fight for healthy people and a healthy planet.”
