Congresswoman Luz Rivas: “I Stand with Congresswoman LaMonica McIver.”

WASHINGTON, D.C. — Congresswoman Luz Rivas (D-CA-29) released the following statement following the U.S. Department of Justice’s announcement of charges against Congresswoman LaMonica McIver (D-NJ-10):

 “I stand with Congresswoman LaMonica McIver and her duty under the Constitution to conduct oversight on the Executive Branch. Unidentified ICE agents accosted, harassed, and obstructed Congresswoman McIver and our colleagues from performing their oversight duties into the Trump Administration and of ICE detention facilities. President Trump believes that by weaponizing the Department of Justice and charging Congresswoman McIver, he can intimidate House Democrats into silence as he and his Administration continue to run roughshod over the Constitution. The President is wrong. House Democrats will continue to sound the alarm on President Trump and his Administration’s reckless and unlawful actions.”
